A train hauling empty tankers and armoured military vehicles derailed near Wat Samiannaree in Bangkok, injuring a railway employee, on Wednesday.

Bangkok-bound train No.502 from Nakhon Ratchasima derailed about 11am as it approached Bang Sue station. Four wagons jumped the rails, halting the train and blocking the track.

A coupling had come loose and caused the carriages to bang into each other, said Bantoeng Daengtabtim, operations chief of the State Railway of Thailand. The incident would be investigated.

Train attendant Pornchai Prakasit sustained a cut to his head and a blow to the chest when he was thrown about by the jolting of the derailment.

Train traffic was not affected as there are other tracks they could use.-Credit To Bangkok Post
