Seruan Sesat LGBT Kepada Umat Islam

SHAH ALAM 24 Mei-Usaha untuk mengadakan kempen LGBT“Courage in the face of adversity” oleh sebuah badan bukan kerajaan Pelangi Campaign bukan sahaja patut dibatalkan malah patut diharamkan kempen sebegitu dinegara ini.

MANILA -- Muslim extremists abducted a Catholic priest and more than a dozen churchgoers while laying siege to a southern Philippine city overnight, burning buildings, ambushing soldiers and hoisting flags of the Islamic State group, officials said Wednesday.

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared martial law in the southern third of the nation and warned he would enforce it harshly.

The violence erupted Tuesday night after the army raided the hideout of Isnilon Hapilon, an Abu Sayyaf commander who is on Washington's list of most-wanted terrorists with a reward of up to $5 million for his capture. The militants called for reinforcements from an allied group, the Maute, and some 50 gunmen managed to enter the city of Marawi.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas, president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, said the militants forced their way into a cathedral in Marawi and seized a priest, 10 worshippers and three church workers.

The priest, Father Chito, and the others had no role in the conflict, the archbishop said.

“He was not a combatant. He was not bearing arms. He was a threat to none,'' the archbishop said of Chito. “His capture and that of his companions violates every norm of civilized conflict.''

The archbishop says the gunmen are demanding the government recall its forces.

Mr Duterte declared martial rule for 60 days in the entire Mindanao region, the restive southern third of the Philippine archipelago. He had vowed to be “harsh”.

“I warned everybody not to force my hand into it,'' Mr Duterte said on a plane en route to the Philippines on Wednesday. “I have to do it to preserve the republic.''

Martial law allows Mr Duterte to harness the armed forces to carry out arrests, searches and detentions more rapidly. He has repeatedly threatened to place the south, the scene of decades-long Muslim separatist uprisings, under martial law. But human rights groups have expressed fears that martial law powers could further embolden Mr Duterte, whom they have accused of allowing extrajudicial killings of thousands of drug suspects in a crackdown on illegal drugs.

Details from inside Marawi were sketchy because the largely Muslim city of more than 200,000 people appeared to be largely sealed off and without electricity.

“The whole of Marawi city is blacked out, there is no light, and there are Maute snipers all around,'' Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said late Tuesday in Moscow, where he was accompanying Mr Duterte on an official trip. Mr Duterte cut the trip short and headed back to the Philippines.

Mr Lorenzana said dozens of gunmen occupied city hall, a hospital and a jail and burned a Catholic church, a college and some houses in an assault that killed at least two soldiers and a police officer and wounded 12 others.

Hapilon, an Arabic-speaking Islamic preacher known for his expertise on commando assaults, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group in 2014. He is a commander of the Abu Sayyaf militant group and was wounded by a military airstrike in January.

Troops sealed off major entry and exit points to prevent Hapilon from escaping, military chief of staff Gen Eduardo Ano told The Associated Press by telephone late Tuesday from Moscow, where he was accompanying Mr Duterte.

“We will conduct house-to-house clearing and do everything to remove the threat there. We can do that easily,'' Gen Ano said, but added it was more difficult in an urban setting because of the need to avoid civilian casualties.

He said the group erected Islamic State flags at several locations.

Mr Duterte met late Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said he is counting on Russia to supply weapons for the Philippines to fight terrorism.

“Of course, our country needs modern weapons, we had orders in the United States, but now the situation there is not very smooth and in order to fight the Islamic State, with their units and factions, we need modern weapons,'' he said, according to Russian state news agency Tass.

While pursuing peace talks with two large Muslim rebel groups in the south of this predominantly Roman Catholic nation, Mr Duterte has ordered the military to destroy smaller extremist groups which have tried to align with the Islamic State group.

The Maute group is one of less than a dozen new armed Muslim groups that have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and formed a loose alliance with Hapilon reportedly designated as the alliance's leader.

The Maute has been blamed for a bombing that killed 15 people in southern Davao city, Mr Duterte's hometown, last September and a number of attacks on government forces in Lanao, although it has faced setbacks from a series of military offensives.

Last month, troops backed by airstrikes killed dozens of Maute militants and captured their jungle camp near Lanao del Sur's Piagapo town. Troops found homemade bombs, grenades, combat uniforms and passports of suspected Indonesian militants in the camp, the military said.

Next year's general election could be delayed if law and order continues to be disrupted by bomb attacks and other threats to peace, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said Tuesday.

He made the remarks following a blast at Phramongkutklao Hospital on Monday apparently targeting commissioned and retired officers, that left 25 people injured.

The timing of the election could change unless peace is preserved, Gen Prayut said.

"Most importantly, as long as the situation continues this way -- bombings, use of war weapons, conflicts among people and other such problems -- can the election still take place? It depends on everyone's cooperation,'' he said.

Gen Prayut condemned the bombing of the army-run hospital as a gross violation of human rights.

The prime minister claimed there were rumours on social media that his government was behind the blasts in order to hold onto power.

"No government conducts a crazy act like that, except those who want to be the government," he said.

There was a noticeable tightening of security around Bangkok on Tuesday, but particularly at Phramongkutklao Hospital, where soldiers checked everyone entering the facility, including checks on all belongings and bags.

Police and soldiers were deployed to several key locations , especially crowded areas, to prevent a similar incident Deputy Defence Minister Udomdej Sitabutr said after the weekend cabinet meeting.

The explosion took place in the dispensary's waiting room, known as the Wongsuwon room, for commissioned officers at 10am. Thai media earlier reported that 25 people were hurt, one critically. As of Tuesday, seven remained in hospital.

Deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said investigators had confirmed that the explosive device stashed in a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe had been placed inside a flower pot.

They also found the device had an integrated circuit timer set for two to four hours, Pol Gen Srivara said, adding that investigators had been told to look for any suspicious people who appeared at the hospital in the hours leading up the blast.

Pol Gen Srivara said police received a bomb alert in the form of a handwritten letter three days earlier warning them that attack was imminent. The letter was sent to the director of the National Cancer Institute on Rama VI Road about 1km from Phramongkutklao Hospital, a source said.

It warned that three state-run hospitals in the area would be targeted for "terrorist attacks" from the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) rebel group in the deep South and the Islamic State (IS) terror group, the source said.

A member of IS reportedly escaped from Malaysia and arrived in Thailand last week.

"Keep an eye out for a Muslim woman wearing a hijab and carrying a bag," the letter reads. The letter was signed by "a villain who has turned over a new leaf".

Weerawut Imsamran, the institute's director, confirmed he had received a warning letter last Thursday and brought the matter to the attention of Phaya Thai police on Friday.

The letter was handwritten and the sender gave a Muslim name and an address in Bangkok, he said.

"I did not think it would really happen," he said, adding that his institute has since beefed up security, including checking closed-circuit cameras and increasing surveillance.

Police are investigating whether the letter might be linked to the hospital bombing or whether it was a hoax or just a coincidence, Pol Gen Srivara said.

Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said investigators have obtained footage from a mobile phone recorded five minutes before the hospital blast. The footage was an important piece of evidence, he said.

A source with the investigation team said that nine of 13 CCTV cameras at the blast scene were not working at the time of the explosion.

Pol Col Kamthorn Ouicharoen, chief of the city police explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit, said the components used to make the hospital bomb were the same as those used in two previous bombings.

He was referring to the blast in front of the National Theatre near Sanam Luang on May 15 and an explosion outside the old Government Lottery Office on Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue on April 5.

On Tuesday, police arrested a man in connection with the letter warning of a series of blasts targeting hospitals, they said. The man's identity has not been disclosed.

Also Tuesday, Pheu Thai acting deputy secretary-general Chavalit Wichayasut said Gen Prayut must not use the bombings as an excuse to break his promise to follow the election roadmap.

The government has been in office for more than three years and should stick to its roadmap, he said.

Pramual Aimpia, a Democrat Party deputy spokesman, also urged the government not to change course or use the incident to delay the poll.

Akanat Promphan, spokesman of the Muan Maha Prachachon for Reforms Foundation, a reincarnation of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, said the foundation agreed that an election should be held only when the country is at peace.

"What use is it to have an election amid civil war or insurgencies? How can that be called democracy?" he said.

He said the public should not panic but rather condemn the attacks and support the government as it investigates cases and finds ways to prevent further incidents.

Meanwhile, the Police General Hospital said it had checked on the condition of its 300 closed-circuit television cameras as part of beefed-up security.

Rubbish bins, VIP rooms and emergency rooms were also checked for suspicious objects, hospital officials said.
Ankara police kill suspected Daesh men planning attack

Ankara police kill suspected Daesh men planning attack

ANKARA: Turkish police on Sunday killed in Ankara two suspected members of Daesh believed to have been planning an attack in the capital, the regional governor said.
The two were killed during a police operation on their residence in the Etimesgut district of Ankara after a gunfight with officers, state-run news agency Anadolu quoted regional governor Ercan Topaca as saying.
The raid was launched on the basis of testimony from a suspected Azerbaijani Daesh member who was detained by Istanbul police after allegedly driving the two men to Ankara.
“This (police) operation was quickly planned after this suspect said they and the two others he left in Ankara were Daesh members and planning an attack,” Topaca said.
He said police opened fire after the two suspects themselves fired on the security forces.
After “neutralizing” the two men, guns and hand grenades were found, Topaca said.
Although the identities and nationalities of the two men have yet to be confirmed, Topaca said they believed they were aged between 25 and 30.
“We believe they were planning an attack likely in the next few days. The weapons, explosives were effective and powerful,” he said.
During the past 18 months, Turkey has been hit by a wave of attacks blamed on Daesh and Kurdish militants, killing hundreds in cities like Istanbul, Ankara and the southeastern city of Gaziantep.
The raid comes nearly six months after a Daesh gunman killed 39 people in attack on the elite Reina nightclub during New Year celebrations in Istanbul.
The shootout took place as Ankara was hosting a special congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) that was set to again choose President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as its chairman. But there was no indication of any link to the congress.
Manchester: Unsettled, but united after deadly terror attack

Manchester: Unsettled, but united after deadly terror attack

MANCHESTER/LONDON: Chants of ‘Manchester, Manchester!’ on Tuesday embodied the defiant spirit of an English city unsettled, but united after a suicide attack that killed at least 22 people, including an 8-year-old girl.
A multi-faith vigil held in the city center saw prayers for the victims of Monday evening’s Daesh-claimed terror atrocity at Manchester Arena, at the close of a concert by US pop star Ariana Grande.
The vigil was attended by Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Sikh leaders, and followed global messages of condemnation of the attack — including from Saudi Arabia and other Muslim nations.
Newly elected mayor Andy Burnham, a former Labour Party Cabinet member, called the vigil in the city’s Albert Square.
He earlier praised the positive reaction of the city’s residents, declaring: “Even in the minutes after the attack they opened their doors to strangers and drove them away from danger. They have the best possible response to those who seek to divide us. And it will be that spirit of Manchester that will prevail and hold us together.”
Dave Haslam, former DJ at Manchester’s once-legendary Hacienda nightclub, tweeted: “You’ve got the wrong city if you think hate will tear us apart.”
Police on Tuesday named 22-year-old Salman Abedi — reportedly British-born of Libyan descent — as the suspect behind a suicide bombing.
Eight-year-old Saffie Rose Roussos and teenager Georgina Callander were among the first of at least 22 people to be confirmed dead in the terror attack. Another 59 people were taken to hospital, many with life-threatening conditions.
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday joined Arab and Muslim world leaders in condemning the terrorist attack.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming the Kingdom’s solidarity with the UK and underscored the importance of pooling together international efforts to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and extremism.
The Saudi ambassador to the UK also conveyed Saudi Arabia’s sincere condolences over what he described as a “cowardly” attack.
Queen Elizabeth II condemned the Manchester attack as an “act of barbarity” and observed a minute's silence at a Buckingham Palace garden reception.
US President Donald Trump said during a visit to Bethlehem: “So many young, beautiful, innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers.”
Though Daesh claimed the attack, terrorism expert Lee Marsden, a professor at the University of East Anglia in the UK, said it was not yet clear whether the extremist group had any operational involvement in the bombing.
But he said attacks of this nature are likely to become more frequent as the extremist terror group loses ground in the Middle East.
“As Daesh is facing defeat in Iraq and Syria and foreign fighters return home then the propensity for such attacks is likely to increase,” Marsden told Arab News.
British Prime Minister Theresa May called the bombing a “callous terrorist attack... that targeted some of the youngest people in our society.”
The attack is the deadliest terror assault on Britain since four militants killed 52 people in suicide bombings on London’s transport system in July 2005.
The UK national terror threat level has been elevated from “severe” to the top level “critical,” which means that an attack is underway or imminent.
Why it is healthy to eat dates in Ramadan

Why it is healthy to eat dates in Ramadan

RIYADH: Fasting in Ramadan can be exhausting accompanied by headaches, low blood sugar levels, lethargy, hypertension and fatigue. Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, used to break his fast by eating one to three dates at sunset. It has been scientifically proven that the best way to break a fast is with dates as they are rich in carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, magnesium and potassium.
Dates raise blood sugar levels almost immediately. Their high carbohydrate content slows down the digestion process leaving you fuller for longer. It is advised to have soup or salad right after the dates to give your body some room to get started, and it is also best to wait for 20 minutes before having your meal.
Referring to the nutritional and medicinal values of dates, Dr. Hassan Mehdi, a physician at Arfan Clinic, said dates have the much-needed minerals and energy to help you stay fit and healthy. Date palm is now grown extensively for its edible fruits under warmer climates across all the continents.
There are many varieties of date palm cultivated. Amir Haj, Saidy, Khadrawy and Medjool are some of the important varieties popular for their rich taste, flavor and superior quality.
Wonderfully delicious, dates are one of the most popular fruits packed with an impressive list of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that are required for normal growth, development and overall well-being. Fresh dates are composed of soft, easily digestible flesh and simple sugars like fructose and dextrose.
Additionally, the fiber works as a bulk laxative. It thus helps protect the colon mucous membrane from cancer-causing chemicals binding to it in the colon.
Dates also offer protection against age-related macular degeneration, especially in elderly populations. Dates are an excellent source of iron, and carry 0.90 mg/100 g of fruits (about 11 percent of RDI). Iron, being a component of hemoglobin inside the red blood cells, determines the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. They are an excellent source of potassium. 100 g contains 696 mg or 16 percent of daily-recommended levels of this electrolyte.
Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that help regulate heart rate and blood pressure. They offer protection against strokes and coronary heart diseases. Date fruits are also rich in minerals like calcium, manganese, copper and magnesium. Calcium is an important mineral that is an essential constituent of bone and teeth, and required by the body for muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve impulse conduction. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase.
Copper is required for the production of red blood cells. Magnesium is essential for bone growth.
The fruit has moderate levels of B-complex group of vitamins as well as vitamin K. It contains very good amounts of pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), niacin, pantothenic acid and riboflavin. These vitamins, acting as cofactors, help the body metabolize carbohydrates, protein and fats. Vitamin K is essential for many coagulant factors in the blood as well as in bone metabolism.
But in order to preserve the dates’ nutritional and medicinal values, there is always a need to process and store them properly. Dates can be readily available in grocery stores all year around. Some varieties of fresh, soft, good-quality fruits, however, are only found from September through December. In certain dry regions of Africa, dates are gathered while just reaching maturity and allowed to ripen inside jars.
“On research front, the Kingdom and its institutions have been working to boost quality production of dates and to introduce new technology in its processing system,” said Haleem Ali Shah, a date merchant, who has been exporting dates to Pakistan for years.
It is important to note that Saudi date palm researchers recently visited Malaysia to review adaptable oil palm technology. Date palm is the most important fruit in Saudi Arabian culture, being a staple food with historical and religious significance.
The Kingdom is currently the second largest producer of date palm in the world with 23 million trees across 172,000 ha, producing 1.3 million tons. Most of the production is for domestic consumption as the country is the largest consumer of dates worldwide.
Tehran’s ‘Iranophobia’ claim against US slammed

Tehran’s ‘Iranophobia’ claim against US slammed

JEDDAH: Iran’s statement on Monday accusing the US of “Iranophobia” came in for a sharp rebuke from experts who described Tehran as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Referring to US President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said: “Once again, by his repetitive and baseless claims about Iran, the American president... tried to encourage the countries of the region to purchase more arms by spreading Iranophobia.”
That accusation was instantly shot down by former US diplomat and political analyst Ali Khedery.
“It’s not Iranophobia, it’s strategic clarity from Trump and our regional allies,” Khedery told Arab News, adding that Iran has plenty of blood on its hands.
“Since the Islamic revolution in 1979, Iran has killed and wounded thousands of our American soldiers and civilians,” Khedery said. “It started with the US Embassy Tehran hostage crisis, during which our diplomats were held for 444 days. Then Iran participated in the bombing of our embassy in Beirut in 1982, then the Marine barracks in 1983. Iran had a role in the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia in 1996, and the terrorist attack against Jewish targets in Argentina in the late 1990s.”
Iran had had dealings with Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda for decades, Khedery said, adding: “Iran has also maintained ties with the Taliban, and has facilitated various terrorist activities in Afghanistan that have resulted in the killing and wounding of our soldiers and Afghan civilians. They’ve done the same in Iraq since 2003, killing and wounding thousands of our soldiers, primarily through their Shiite militias. They also participated in the killing and wounding of thousands of Iraqi civilians.”
Iran, Hezbollah and Russia have been Syrian President Bashar Assad’s chief backers “as he committed a modern-day holocaust, killing some half a million Syrians, wounding a million more and displacing some 11 million,” Khedery said.
He expressed relief that “an American president has come along who recognized this fact and is finally willing to do something about it.”
Oubai Shahbandar, a Syrian-American analyst and fellow at the New America Foundation’s International Security Program, said Tehran seems to go to great lengths to complain when the US and the Arab Coalition take it to task “for its very real and dangerous malign activity.”
It is incumbent upon Iran’s recently re-elected President Hassan Rouhani to show he can rein in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Shiite militant forces they arm and fund to destabilize the region, Shahbandar added.
“This isn’t Iranophobia, it’s common sense,” he told Arab News. “It’s how normal states that seek normal relations with their neighbors are supposed to act. When ‘Death to America’ and a drive to spread extremism throughout the Muslim and Arab worlds are purged from Iran’s government policy and rhetoric, then and only then can it realistically hope to mend ties with America and Arab allies. Sadly, the Iranian regime to this day does a great disservice to its people by showing no signs that it’s willing or capable of moving past the extremist fervor of its 1979 revolutionary ethos.”
Harvard scholar and Iranian affairs expert Majid Rafizadeh called it Iranian double standard to accuse the US or other nations of Iranophobia.
“Militarily, strategically, ideologically and geopolitically, some of the core pillars of Iran’s political establishment — for almost four decades since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979 — have been anti-Americanism, damaging US national interests, inciting hatred toward the US, chanting ‘Death to America’ and ‘The Great Satan,’ and scuttling the foreign policy objectives of the US and its allies,” Rafizadeh told Arab News.
“This revolutionary value… is the raison d’etre of the political establishment, particularly the top gilded circle of Iranian leaders. Whatever any nation attempts to do, whatever policy any government pursues, and whatever any US administration tries to do in order to moderate Iran, rationalize it or make peace, one can’t change this underlying ideological and revolutionary pillar,” he added.
At refugee camp, Haley vows US will not abandon Syrians

At refugee camp, Haley vows US will not abandon Syrians

ZAATARI REFUGEE CAMP, Jordan: His skull and jaw wrapped in bandages, the young Syrian refugee stared nonchalantly into a small black box at a supermarket in this sprawling, dust-swept refugee camp. The box scanned his iris to identify him, charged his account and sent him on his way.
If the boy noticed US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley watching intently from just a few feet away, he didn’t show it. But Haley would later tout the iris-scanners as a fraud-cutting tool boosting efficiency for the more than $6.5 billion the US has spent helping those whose lives have been upended by Syria’s harrowing civil war.
Yet as Haley pledged Sunday that the US would increase support, her message was diluted by President Donald Trump’s own vow to put “America First,” his planned budget cuts and hard-line position on admitting refugees.
“We’re the No. 1 donor here through this crisis. That’s not going to stop. We’re not going to stop funding this,” Haley said. “The fact that I’m here shows we want to see what else needs to be done.”
It was a theme the outspoken ambassador returned to over and over in Jordan at the start of her first trip abroad since taking office. In her stops here and in Turkey — another Syria neighbor — Haley is witnessing first-hand the strains placed on countries absorbing the more than 5 million Syrians who have fled Daesh, President Bashar Assad’s regime, or both.
She climbed into the trailer of an 18-wheeler staged at the Ramtha border crossing less than a kilometer from Syria, inspecting boxes of peas, tuna and canned meat stacked shoulder-high. The truck was to join 19 others in a convoy into opposition-held territory in Syria, carrying supplies from UN agencies and other groups, many US-funded.
“This is all in the name of our Syrian brothers and sisters,” Haley told aid workers in a nearby tent, swatting away flies in the summer heat. “We want you to feel like the US is behind you.”
The US president’s message to Syrians couldn’t be more different.
Trump once called his predecessor “insane” for letting in Syrian refugees. As president, he tried to bar them from the US, describing them as a national security threat. A court blocked that move, but the number of Syrian refugees admitted has nonetheless dropped, from 5,422 in the four months before Trump’s inauguration to 1,566 in the four months since, US statistics show.
And Trump has called for drastic cuts to US funding for the UN and its affiliated agencies — such as those aiding people still in Syria and those who have fled. Trump plans to release his budget blueprint Tuesday, but his initial proposal in March called for a one-third cut to diplomatic and overseas programming while boosting the US military by $54 billion.
Haley told reporters accompanying her to Jordan that the US was “not pulling back” and was in fact “engaging more.” She cited Trump’s stepped-up action to try to hasten a political solution to the war, including a strike punishing Assad’s forces for using chemical weapons that the Syrian opposition and its backers have enthusiastically applauded.
She echoed Trump’s defense of his plan to temporarily halt refugee admissions from all countries — which was also blocked in court — by saying the US needed to protect Americans by first improving its refugee-vetting capabilities. And she pointed to a group of women in the camp who had overwhelmingly told her their hope was to return to Syria, not relocate to the US
“So our goal is how do we get these people back home to a safe place?” Haley said.
Still, the situation in Zaatari Refugee Camp — like in others in Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq — tell the story of Syrians who see no quick resolution to their plight.
In Zaatari, half of the 80,000 refugees are children, and a dozen babies are born here per day, according to UNICEF, the UN’s child welfare agency. Thirty-five percent of marriages involve a child under 18, a reflection of the economic hardships families in the camp face.
Many of the younger children wander unsupervised through the camp, where gusts of dust occasionally reduced visibility to just a few feet as Haley’s motorcade rolled through the streets, passing sparse, white-corrugated buildings accorded a bit of cheer by colorful murals painted on their walls.
Yemen raid kills seven Al-Qaeda militants: US military

Yemen raid kills seven Al-Qaeda militants: US military

WASHINGTON: US forces have carried out a ground raid on an Al-Qaeda compound in Yemen, killing seven militants, the Pentagon said late Monday.
The raid took place in Marib province in the early hours of Tuesday local time and was conducted with the support of Yemeni authorities.
“During this operation, US forces killed seven AQAP (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula) militants through a combination of small arms fire and precision airstrikes,” Centcom, the US military command for the Middle East, said in a statement.
Local tribesmen confirmed a raid in the central Marib governorate, which is controlled by forces loyal to the Western-backed President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, but said five people were killed and six others were wounded, all from the same extended family.
It was the latest operation by US forces against the AQAP, which has exploited a two-year-old civil war between the Iran-aligned Houthi and Hadi government to enhance its influence in the impoverished country.
The AQAP militants were killed “through a combination of small-arms fire and precision airstrikes” in Marib, with the support of the Yemeni government, the statement said.
“Raids such as this provide insight into AQAP’s disposition, capabilities and intentions, which will allow us to continue to pursue, disrupt, and degrade AQAP,” it said.
Two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters separately that there were no known US casualties and the raid was carried out 40-45 km north of another US raid that took place in late January.
One of the US officials said there were no immediate reports of civilian casualties in the raid, which was carried out by US Special Forces troops.
Sources said that the attack began with drone strikes at a house in the southern Marib governorate near the border with the Al-Bayda governorate, followed by automatic fire from low-flying helicopters.
They said that five members of their Al-Moradi clan, a main tribe in Marib, had died in the operation and six others were wounded, adding that they were all civilians.
The January operation, the first of its kind authorized by US President Donald Trump, was hailed as a success by the White House and other US officials.
However, critics questioned the value of the mission after a US Navy Seal was killed. Women and children, as well as several militants, were also killed in the raid.
The US military has carried out more than 80 strikes in Yemen against Al-Qaeda militants since February.
The group boasts one of the world’s most feared bomb makers, Ibrahim Hassan Al-Asiri, and AQAP has been a persistent concern to the US government since a 2009 attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day.
The militant group has also taken advantage of a civil war pitting the Iran-aligned Houthis against the Hadi government to try to widen its control and influence in the impoverished Arabian Peninsula country, one of the poorest in the Middle East.

Turkish police say seeking 144 people over links to failed coup, 35 detained

ISTANBUL: Turkish police said on Tuesday they are seeking 144 people including police, soldiers and prosecutors, over suspected links to the network of a U.S.-based cleric blamed by Ankara for orchestrating last year's failed coup.
In raids across 42 provinces, 35 of the 144 wanted people have already been detained, the police said in a statement, adding that the suspects were thought to be using ByLock, an encrypted messaging app the government says was used by preacher Fethullah Gulen's followers.
Turkey accuses Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile for almost 20 years, of running a decades-long campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
The investigation, launched by Istanbul chief prosecutor's office, was targeting the Gulenist structure within the army, the police said, although the individuals also included academics and lawyers.
The cleric denies the charges.
Earlier, broadcaster CNN Turk reported that Turkish authorities issued arrest warrants for 33 people at the telecommunications watchdog and 36 people at the capital markets watchdog.
Since the aftermath of the failed July coup, authorities have arrested 50,000 people and sacked or suspended 150,000 from a wide range of professions including soldiers, police, teachers and public servants, over alleged links with terrorist groups.
As the arrests widened, criticism mounted, with opponents saying the crackdown had been used to crush all dissent against President Tayyip Erdogan.

Maruah Lembu Lebih Tinggi Dari Maruah Manusia

Maruah Lembu Lebih Tinggi Dari Maruah Manusia

Agama Hindu, Mangsa Evangelisme Melampau

Agama Hindu, Mangsa Evangelisme Melampau

Najib Tidak Popular Propaganda Murahan Dari Dajal TIME

Azim Ali Tak Campur Urusan Jawatan Lantikan Politik Kelantan

Azim Ali Tak Campur Urusan Jawatan Lantikan Politik Kelantan

Pemuda PAN Rantai Pagar Pejabat SPR

Pemuda PAN Rantai Pagar Pejabat SPR

Bulan 26 April, Setiausaha SPR Abdul Ghani Salleh mengeluarkan arahan pemberhentian pengedaran RDPT.

– 23 Mei, 2017.www.themalaysianinsight.com
'Money Game' Wakil Rakyat DAP Tidak Puas Hati

'Money Game' Wakil Rakyat DAP Tidak Puas Hati

Protests turn violent in south Tunisia; police stations burned, one killed

Protests turn violent in south Tunisia; police stations burned, one killed

TUNIS: Tunisian security forces firing teargas clashed with protesters on Monday after they burned down two police stations following the death of a young man hit by a police vehicle during protests over jobs in the south.

Unrest in Tatatouine province have escalated into violence after protesters targeted oil and gas facilities to block production to pressure Prime Minister Youssef Chahed’s government for work and development in the marginalized region.

“One young man died in the Tatatouine protests. He was hit by a police car in the protest,” a Health Ministry source said.
State-run Tatatouine Radio said youths had burned out two local police stations during the clashes and police had withdrawn from the town. Images from the town showed burned out vehicles in the street and charred walls of police offices.

Protesters earlier briefly forced the closure of the Vana pumping station in Tatatouine, one of several oil and gas facilities affected over the weekend, after the army allowed an engineer to shut it to avoid a confrontation.

The Defense Ministry said on Sunday it would use force to protect and retake southern oil and gas facilities, and clashes broke out at Vana on Monday when the military took back control to restart the pump, two witnesses said.

“The Defense Ministry warns citizens of the risk of prosecution following altercations with military units, and bodily harm resulting from aggression or violations accessing facilities under their control,” it late on Sunday.

Protesters pressing demands for jobs and a share of the country’s energy wealth forced the closure of two oil and gas pumping stations, where Italy’s ENI SpA, Austria’s OMV AG and France’s Perenco operate, and where Prime Minister Youssef Chahed had already deployed troops.
Tunisia is a small oil producer with an output of about 44,000 barrels per day.

But the closures represent a clear challenge to the authority of Chahed’s government as it tries to enact economic reforms demanded by international lenders and consolidate Tunisia’s transition to democracy six years after an uprising ended the autocratic rule of Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali.

Southern and central regions have erupted into rioting and protest several times since the 2011 revolt with many unemployed youths complaining the fall of Ben Ali and transition to democracy bought little economic opportunities for them.-ARAB NEWS
Turkey summons US envoy over ‘security lapses’ in Erdogan visit

Turkey summons US envoy over ‘security lapses’ in Erdogan visit

ANKARA: Turkey summoned the US ambassador on Monday to protest “aggressive behavior” by American security personnel and “security lapses” during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Washington last week.

The key visit was marred by bloody clashes that took place outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence after Erdogan met American counterpart Donald Trump.
US officials and police have blamed Erdogan’s bodyguards for the incident, accusing them of attacking a small group of pro-Kurdish protesters gathered outside the building and the incident ignited a storm of controversy.

Witnesses at the scene last week confirmed this account to AFP, and on Monday the US State Department did not back down in the face of Turkey’s complaint.
“We can confirm the Turkish foreign ministry convoked our ambassador to Turkey to discuss the violent incidents involving protesters and Turkish security personnel on May 16,” spokeswoman Heather Nauert said.

“As we noted previously, the conduct of Turkish security personnel last week was deeply disturbing. The State Department has raised its concerns about those events at the highest levels,” she added.

Turkey blamed the violence on supporters of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) who picked on pro-Erdogan US-based Turks.
The Turkish ministry summoned John Bass, American ambassador in Ankara, to deliver a “written and verbal protest” over “the aggressive and unprofessional actions taken.”

The ministry accused US security personnel of acting “contrary to diplomatic rules and practices... toward the close protection team” of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in front of the Turkish embassy chancery in Washington.

“It has been formally requested that the US authorities conduct a full investigation of this diplomatic incident and provide the necessary explanation,” it added.
The ministry said it told Bass there were “lapses of security” during Erdogan’s stay.

It hit out at “the inability of US authorities to take sufficient precautions at every stage of the official program.”
However, the ministry said it emphasized to Bass that this would not overshadow an otherwise “successful and important visit.”
US Senator John McCain said that the Turkish ambassador should be thrown “the hell out of the United States of America” after the fighting.

“This is Erdogan’s security detail. Somebody told them to go out there and beat up on these peaceful demonstrators,” McCain said Thursday.

Namun polis masih belum pasti walau dua sumber pegawai Amerika Syarikat menyebut letupan itu akibat serangan pengebom bunuh diri.

Tolong Beli Padi Kami Dengan Segera

Tolong Beli Padi Kami Dengan Segera

Dua Pesara Mengaku Tidak Bersalah Terlibat Rasuah RM600,000

Punca PERKASA Marah MCA

Punca PERKASA Marah MCA

Jijik Sangatkah Anwar Pada Mata Pemimpin PPBM?

Jijik Sangatkah Anwar Pada Mata Pemimpin PPBM?

Death toll crosses 141 in Libya attack; defense minister suspended

BENGHAZI: A spokesman for east Libyan armed forces said on Friday that as many as 141 people had been killed a day earlier in an attack on a southern air base, and the head of Libya’s United Nations-backed government suspended his defense minister pending an investigation into the incident.

The attack at Brak Al-Shati air base shattered a truce in the area, which in recent months had become a flashpoint between military alliances based in eastern and western Libya.

It risks a major escalation in a stop-start conflict between eastern-based factions and rivals loosely aligned with current and former governments in the capital, Tripoli.

Ahmed Al-Mismari, a spokesman for the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA), said 103 of those killed in the attack at the air base were LNA troops, most of them from the 12th Brigade stationed there.

They were attacked by a brigade from the western city of Misrata known as the Third Force, which previously controlled the base and is nominally aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli.

Earlier on Friday, the mayor of Brak Al-Shati and a medical source in the town put the death toll at 89, though the medical official said some bodies had not been brought to the hospital. Mismari said some of the bodies were only collected on Friday.

It was not possible to independently verify the number of casualties. Local and LNA officials have said some of those killed were civilians who appeared to have been summarily executed. Mohamed Gliwan, a spokesman for the Third Force, told local TV that LNA troops who were killed inside the base were armed.

Human Rights Watch cited a medical official, an eyewitness, and photo and video footage to say that attacking forces had killed “scores of LNA fighters, some with bullets to the head, in apparent acts of summary execution.” UN Libya envoy Martin Kobler called the attack unprovoked and vicious, saying it “must not push (Libya) into further, serious conflict.”

GNA Prime Minister Fayez Seraj announced that he was suspending both Defense Minister Mahdi Al-Barghathi and Third Force commander Jamal Traiki, “until it is determined who was responsible for violating the cease-fire.”

He condemned the escalation at Brak Al-Shati “in the strongest terms” and called for an immediate cease-fire. He denied issuing any instructions to the ministry of defense.

Barghathi is a former LNA commander turned opponent of LNA chief Khalifa Haftar. He is widely reported to have played a role in plotting past military operations against the LNA, though his ministry denied ordering Thursday’s attack.

The LNA has said militants and the Benghazi Defense Brigades (BDB), whose members previously fought the LNA in Benghazi, also took part in the attack.

Mismari said the LNA had carried out air strikes in the Sabha and Jufra regions in response to the attack.

Also on Friday, a car bomb south of Benghazi killed a prominent tribal leader linked to the LNA along with five other people. The blast in Suluq, 31 miles (50 km) south of Benghazi, also wounded 26 people, a medical source said.

The LNA has been fighting a three-year campaign against Jihadists and other opponents in Benghazi and other parts of eastern Libya.-ARAB NEWS
